Bakkar: Plans Set to Boost Vocational Training to Meet Labor Market Needs.

Bakkar: The government, in implementation of the Royal directives, has implemented governance criteria on the Kingdom's vocational and technical education sector to bridge the skill gap and meet labor market needs by qualifying youth to engage in economic activity, Labor Minister Dr. Khaled Bakkar said. Bakkar's remarks came while inaugurating a seminar held by the Arab Labor Organization (ALO) and the Ministry of Labor, entitled: "Importance of Vocational Education and Training in Keeping Up with Future Needs of Labor Markets." According to Jordan News Agency, the government, through Vocational Training Corporation (VTC), is developing specialized training institutes and centers to obtain global accreditations, and providing related programs in technical and industrial that keep pace with technological development and target jobless youth, the minister pointed out. Furthermore, Bakkar noted the ministry is coordinating with the VTC-affiliated Technical and Vocational Skills Development Commission, to devel op professional standards, based on the "real" labor market's requirements and needs and set regulatory controls for the training process.
