Amman: Minister of Social Development, Wafa Bani Mustafa, engaged in discussions with her Qatari and Tunisian counterparts focusing on cooperation in social protection. The meetings took place alongside the 45th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs and a high-level Arab conference in Amman dedicated to implementing the declaration from the Second World Summit for Social Development.
According to Jordan News Agency, Bani Mustafa highlighted the strong Jordanian-Qatari relations and the efforts of both nations to enhance joint Arab initiatives and develop social development policies. She emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise in social programs for vulnerable groups and learning from each other's experiences and best practices in social services.
During her meeting with Qatari Minister of Social Development and Family Affairs, Buthaina Al-Nuaimi, Bani Mustafa discussed Jordan's advancements in professionalizing social work under the Social Development Law. She highlighted the goal of regulating the social work profession to improve service quality for target groups. This legislative process involved consultations with universities, civil society organizations, and the voluntary sector in Jordan. Al-Nuaimi expressed appreciation for Jordan's efforts in social fields and hoped for strengthened bilateral cooperation.
Bani Mustafa also met with Tunisian Minister of Social Affairs, Issam Al-Ahmar, to explore cooperation prospects in social services. She reviewed social programs for vulnerable groups, including alternative housing, disability integration and empowerment, and the expansion of early intervention and day centers in Jordan. Bani Mustafa acknowledged the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, led by Prince Mired bin Raad, for its role in providing programs and services to target groups. Al-Ahmar praised Jordan for hosting the 45th session and expressed interest in learning from Jordan's social service experiences and fostering future cooperation.
