Punta cana: The Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) participated virtually in the International Civil Aviation Organization's Air Services Negotiation Conference (ICAN 2025), hosted in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. During this event, the Commission engaged in bilateral discussions with the Civil Aviation Authority of Timor-Leste to explore opportunities for enhancing collaboration in the civil aviation sector.
According to Jordan News Agency, the discussions focused on developing regulatory frameworks and bilateral agreements aimed at establishing air routes between the two countries. The options on the table included direct flights, cooperative operating arrangements, and codeshare services. Both parties emphasized the significance of strengthening bilateral air transport relations and aligning their policy efforts with international best practices.
The authorities from both nations agreed to advance towards finalizing a draft liberalized air services agreement, demonstrating their commitment to ongoing coordination to complete the national procedures required for its signing in the near future.
These discussions are part of broader efforts to position Jordan as a regional aviation hub by expanding international air transport networks and pursuing reciprocal airspace liberalization with targeted countries. Such efforts are anticipated to enhance air connectivity, support the development of civil aviation, and contribute to economic and tourism growth.
