China Calls for Equitable Russia-Ukraine Peace Agreement

Taipei: China has called for a "fair" peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine that is "acceptable to all sides," as reported by state media. The call for dialogue comes amid ongoing tensions and efforts to find a resolution to the conflict.

According to Anadolu Agency, China's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Mao Ning, emphasized the importance of direct dialogue and negotiations between the involved parties. She stated that China supports a political solution to the crisis and hopes for all parties to achieve a fair, lasting, and binding peace agreement through dialogue and negotiation.

The statement from China followed a significant two-hour phone discussion between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday. The conversation focused on efforts to establish a ceasefire in the Ukraine conflict. President Trump expressed optimism, suggesting that it would be "great" for Russia and Ukraine to engage in ceasefire talks at the Vatican.

When questioned about China's participation in any potential Russia-Ukraine negotiations, Mao indicated China's willingness to cooperate with the international community. She highlighted that China is prepared to continue playing a constructive role in resolving the crisis and achieving lasting peace, in line with the wishes of the parties involved.
