Chinese Researchers Launch First AI-Based Processor Chip Design System

Beijing: Chinese researchers have unveiled the world's first artificial intelligence (AI)-based processor chip design system. The system, named QiMeng, was developed through a collaboration between the Institute of Computing Technology and the Institute of Software, both part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

According to Anadolu Agency, QiMeng acts as an automated architect and builder for computer chips, marking a significant step toward fully automated chip design. This innovation allows AI to manage both the hardware and software components of chip production with minimal human input. The system is designed to improve design efficiency, reduce development time, and offer customized designs for specific application scenarios.

Traditionally, designing a processor chip requires large teams of experts, often involving hundreds of specialists, and can take months or even years to complete. This lengthy and costly process could be significantly streamlined by QiMeng, paving the way for more rapid advancements in the field.
