Amman, The commercial sector across Jordan will go to the polls on Saturday to choose representatives in the boards of directors of chambers of commerce and representatives of commercial sectors for 2022.

The number of voters entitled to participate in the voting process is 27,982 merchants, while the election process may be postponed in some chambers if the quorum for the General Assembly is not completed until December 10.

The number of merchants who ran for the elections of the boards of directors of the 16 chambers of commerce is 240 candidates, including two women in Amman. Twenty-three others will run for the elections of the ten commercial sectors that will join the Jordan Chamber of Commerce board of directors.

The Independent Election Commission (IEC) confirmed its readiness to hold elections for board members of chambers of commerce and representatives of commercial sectors in 2022 throughout the Kingdom by preparing and implementing awareness and education plans for the electoral process.

The Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission had set the third Saturday of December as the date for voting.
