Amman: His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II chaired a meeting of the preparatory committee responsible for the executive programme on cleanliness and combating littering for the years 2026-2027. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Environment and included the attendance of Prime Minister Jafar Hassan.
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting focused on the themes and plans developed by the committee for the executive programme, which was recently launched by the government. Crown Prince Al Hussein emphasized the significance of the government's efforts to reduce littering in public spaces, highlighting that addressing economic and regional challenges should not divert attention from cleanliness. He underscored that cleanliness is a religious and moral duty and is crucial for the performance of economic sectors such as tourism.
The Crown Prince stressed the importance of coordinating with all relevant parties to enhance community awareness and infrastructure, and to adopt ideas that contribute to the programme's success, which necessitates collective efforts. Prime Minister Hassan stated that the government will begin implementing the strategy's key points in collaboration with relevant authorities. This ongoing programme will include cleanliness campaigns, awareness initiatives, and strict enforcement of laws against violators.
Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman provided a briefing on the executive programme, detailing its objectives, desired impact, timeline-based outputs, and the roles of entities responsible for its implementation. The strategy will focus on public education campaigns in schools, universities, and mosques, as well as strengthening monitoring tools for identifying violators.
