London: His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II attended the launch of the Jordan-UK Tech Connect Forum in London.
According to Jordan News Agency, the Crown Prince emphasized the forum's role in showcasing the robust partnership between Jordan and the United Kingdom, highlighting their shared objectives in harnessing technology's potential to reshape economies and foster cooperation. He noted Jordan's commitment to investing in its youth, expanding the digital economy, and fostering an innovative environment, which is evident in the increasing collaboration with the UK.
The forum gathered representatives from Jordanian technology companies and leaders from the UK's top technology sectors. The Crown Prince stressed the significance of transforming innovative ideas into significant projects that could benefit both nations.
Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Smeirat shared insights on Jordanian expertise in communications, entrepreneurship, and engineering, especially among the youth. He discussed national efforts to support the ICT sector, particularly through the Jordan Source programme, which was launched in 2021. This programme aims to assist international companies in establishing operations in Jordan and foster connections with local business owners and innovators.
The forum is part of a promotional series by the Jordan Source programme to showcase Jordan's competitive edge in the ICT sector and explore collaborative opportunities. Approximately 120 representatives from leading British technology companies participated, alongside Jordanian entrepreneurs based in the UK.
Two initiatives were launched during the forum to improve access to British investors and promote cooperation between Jordanian and British companies, supporting Jordanian start-ups in entering the British market. The Crown Prince also met with Jordanian representatives of major technology and financial companies in the UK, advocating for increased cooperation with Jordanian tech institutions.
Jordan's Ambassador to the UK, Manar Dabbas, and the Director of the Office of the Crown Prince, Zaid Baqain, were also in attendance.
