Crown Prince Discusses Strategic Partnerships with EBRD and Green Climate Fund at COP29.

Baku: His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II met with European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) President Odile Renaud-Basso during the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) held in Azerbaijan. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between Jordan and the EBRD, with an emphasis on supporting public-private partnership projects and crucial sectors like green energy, tourism, water, transportation, and high-value industries. According to Jordan News Agency, the Crown Prince expressed gratitude for the EBRD's backing of Jordan's Economic Modernisation Vision, which seeks to boost economic growth and employment opportunities. The EBRD president reiterated the bank's dedication to advancing development and investment initiatives in Jordan, including the Aqaba-Amman Water Desalination and Conveyance Project, as part of the EBRD's new country strategy for Jordan (2025-2030). The bank emphasized its interest in promoting transformation towards a green economy. Additionally , His Royal Highness met with Mafalda Duarte, Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), to explore ways to strengthen collaboration between Jordan and the GCF. The Crown Prince highlighted Jordan's pioneering role in renewable energy within the region and its advancements in green energy and climate-smart agricultural solutions, despite challenges related to water scarcity. His Royal Highness stressed the importance of increasing support for the National Water Conveyance Project, citing its crucial role in improving water security, advancing climate adaptation measures, and addressing the additional challenges posed by hosting refugees. The meetings were attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Environment Minister Muawieh Radaideh, Planning Minister Zeina Toukan, and Director of the Office of the Crown Prince Zaid Baqain.
