Crown Prince Stresses Urgent Need for Enhanced Humanitarian Efforts in Gaza During Meetings with UN Leaders.

BAKU: His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II met on Tuesday with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell, emphasizing the critical importance of intensifying the global response to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku. The Crown Prince highlighted the urgent necessity for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon, and urged for de-escalation across the region. He called for international humanitarian organizations to be allowed to perform their duties effectively in Gaza and the surrounding areas, expressing concerns over the unprecedented challenges facing UNRWA in Gaza and the West Bank. Furthermore, His Royal Highness praised the diplomatic efforts of Secretary-General Guterres to achieve regional stability, also acknowledging the technical and capacity-building support provided by UNICEF and other UN agencies active in Jordan. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Director of the Office of the Crown Prince Zaid Baqain.
