Amman: Minister of Culture Mustafa Rawashdeh and the Ambassador of China to Jordan, Guo Wei, engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing cultural cooperation, focusing on organizing joint cultural weeks.
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting, which took place at the Royal Cultural Centre in Amman, explored the possibility of hosting joint artistic events featuring cultural and artistic groups. The dialogue also emphasized the exchange of expertise and experiences across various cultural domains.
Both officials highlighted the existing ties between Jordan and China, advocating for the development of joint educational and training programs. The conversation underscored the importance of youth and artistic initiatives in fostering cultural understanding and strengthening bilateral relations.
Minister Rawashdeh also touched upon the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II in advocating for the Palestinian cause and emphasized the King's role in protecting Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem through the Hashemite Custodianship. He articulated that this custodianship is a historical and political responsibility aimed at preserving the city's identity and countering attempts to undermine its religious and historical significance. He added that these efforts are recognized and appreciated by the international community, demonstrating Jordan's unwavering commitment to achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
Ambassador Guo Wei discussed the upcoming second summit to be held in mid-June as part of the Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum. This summit, organized by the Chinese government in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Arab League, will provide a platform to propose Jordanian cultural events, further enhancing cultural exchange and fostering closer ties between the two peoples.
