DEF Finances 115 Projects in Irbid in First Half of 2026

Irbid: Dr. Issa Awawdeh, Director of the Development and Employment Fund (DEF) branch in Irbid governorate, announced the fund's continued role in supporting local development through strategic financing initiatives.

According to Jordan News Agency, Awawdeh highlighted that the DEF provided approximately JD1 million to fund projects in the Irbid governorate during the first six months of the year. This financial support was aimed at empowering youth and offering both financial and technical assistance to establish productive projects that address poverty and unemployment while fostering local economic growth.

Awawdeh detailed that the funding facilitated the support and development of 115 projects, spanning productive, service, and craft sectors across the governorate. These initiatives have directly contributed to the creation of 157 sustainable job opportunities, particularly benefiting graduates and women in the region.

The projects have also played a significant role in shifting consumer families towards becoming self-reliant, productive households, which in turn enhances self-employment. Awawdeh emphasized the high demand for the fund's financing facilities among entrepreneurs in Irbid and encouraged local youth to visit the branch to explore available financing options and programs. These initiatives are in line with the Kingdom's Economic Modernization Vision, aiming to support budding entrepreneurs and existing business owners in scaling their ventures.
