Deputizing for King, Environment minister takes part in Stockholm+50 meeting

Deputizing for His Majesty King Abdullah II, Environment Minister Muawieh Radaideh took part at the Stockholm +50 international meeting.

Convened by the United Nations General Assembly and inauguratyed by the Swedish monarch, the two-day meeting came to commemorate the 50 years since the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, which made the environment a pressing global issue for the first time.

Addressing the gathering in Stockholm, Radaideh said that Jordan is an essential part of the international community, which seeks to address the three challenges facing the planet, namely climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss.

Radaideh referred to the national efforts that Jordan has achieved to protect the environment, despite the limited resources and the sharp population increase that the Kingdom witnessed due to forced displacement from neighboring countries, which led to resources depletion.
