Member of the “Strong Lebanon” parliamentary bloc, MP Asaad Dergham, as part of his tour in Australia, visited Monday the House of Representatives in Victoria-Melbourne, where he held a meeting with Parliament Speaker Conseilmar Edward and Representative Brownie Half Bunny, in the presence of the Federal Coordinator Maroun El-Khoury. Discussions touched on various political issues, particularly the Syrian displacement. Dergham explained the risks that the displaced pose to Lebanon and the burdens resulting from their presence on Lebanese soul, in light of the current collapse and the suffocating financial crisis prevailing in the country. He stressed that “this matter has become a source of tension between the displaced and the host community in various regions.” Dergham, thus, called for “Australia’s support to Lebanon in international forums to find political solutions to return the displaced to their country and aid Lebanon in getting out of its crisis.”
