Eastern Military Zone Thwarts Drug Smuggling Attempt

Amman: Eastern Military Zone patrols early Saturday disrupted an attempt to smuggle drugs. The drugs were being transported via balloons that were guided by sophisticated electronic devices. The timely intervention ensured that the smuggling effort was stopped before the drugs could be distributed.

According to Jordan News Agency, the balloons were intercepted by border guard troops, who successfully shot them down within Jordanian territory. The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army General Command highlighted the operation's success, emphasizing the collaboration with security bodies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.

The seized items have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation and action. The operation underscores the ongoing efforts and vigilance of the Eastern Military Zone to combat drug smuggling in the region.
