Minister of Transport, Wajih Azaiza, stressed the importance of “concerted” efforts to develop the level of services provided to passengers at Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA).

The minister’s remarks came at a meeting held on Thursday, with Chairman of Airport International Group (AIG), Fernando Echegaray, and its CEO, Nicolas Claude.

Discussions went over ways to develop and modernize the airport’s work mechanism, after QAIA was awarded the title of ‘Best Airport by Size and Region: Middle East’ for airports serving 5 to 15 million passengers, based on the 2020 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Survey, according to a ministry statement.

The talks also tackled the challenges that faced the air traffic during the Covid-19 pandemic, which had a “negative” impact on the flight movement in Jordan and the world, and ways to overcome these hardships and work to increase the airport’s competitiveness, which would raise the level of services provided to travelers, the statement added.

The minister called for the need to orchestrate efforts and work in a team spirit to maintain QAIA ‘s ranking as a “distinguished” airport in the region with its services and facilitations.

The minister also said the “end” goal is to orchestrate all efforts and ensure the level of quality services provided to travelers through QAIA.
