Egypt Condemns Israeli Finance Minister’s Statements on West Bank.

Egypt: Egypt strongly condemned the extreme statements made by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, which call for the imposition of Israeli sovereignty and the expansion of settlements in the West Bank.

According to Jordan News Agency, in a statement issued by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt affirmed that these remarks constitute a blatant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, and all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, in addition to the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice regarding Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories. The statement further emphasized that these comments clearly reflect the Israeli stance of rejecting a peaceful solution for the region and the absence of an Israeli partner capable of making courageous decisions to achieve peace, while also revealing an insistence on adopting a policy of arrogance, one that has contributed to the current cycle of conflict in the region.

Egypt reiterated its reject
ion of such inflammatory statements that fuel extremism and violence, underscoring the international responsibility to protect the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to self-determination. This, it stated, remains the only viable and practical solution to end the conflict in the region and break the cycle of violence and destruction. Egypt also warned against the continuation of escalation and extremism aimed at prolonging and intensifying the conflict and expanding its scope.
