EU Grants £2.5 Million to Madaba Municipality for Environmental Projects

Madaba: Mayor of Greater Madaba Municipality (GMM), Aref Rawajeeh, announced that the municipality has secured a £2.5 million grant from the European Union aimed at improving the city's environmental landscape and initiating various environmental projects.

According to Jordan News Agency, during a meeting with journalists in Madaba governorate, Rawajeeh emphasized that the grant will be utilized to enhance environmental projects. These projects will primarily focus on integrated solutions for water, energy, environment, and resource management. He highlighted that these initiatives will be conducted in partnership with the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) in Jordan.

Detailing the achievements of the GMM since 2022, Rawajeeh proudly stated that the municipality's budgets have remained "deficit-free" and have shown a "steady" increase, reaching JD15 million this year. He further elaborated that recent municipal projects have concentrated on infrastructure improvements, such as implementing asphalt mixtures, establishing roundabouts, and planting trees.
