Amman: First Deputy Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Khamis Atiyeh met with the European Union Ambassador to the Kingdom, Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, at the Parliament building to explore ways to enhance cooperation, particularly in the realm of parliamentary collaboration.
According to Jordan News Agency, Atiyeh expressed his gratitude for the European Union's support to Jordan in several sectors. He emphasized that the comprehensive modernization initiatives launched by His Majesty King Abdullah II are making steady progress. These initiatives reflect Jordan's commitment to sustainable development and enhancing public participation in decision-making processes.
Atiyeh highlighted the significance of strengthening bilateral relations and maintaining political dialogue to serve mutual interests. He pointed out the favorable investment climate and stability present in Jordan across various sectors. Furthermore, he affirmed that King Abdullah II is at the forefront of diplomatic efforts to ensure regional security and stability and emphasized the Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. Atiyeh also underscored the importance of acknowledging the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state on their national soil.
Chatzisavas commended the advanced and developing relations between the European Union and Jordan, recognizing the Kingdom as a vital strategic partner. He reiterated the European Union's dedication to continuing its support for Jordan and acknowledged the efforts of the Jordanian Parliament in reinforcing various aspects of the partnership.
