Amman: Administrative and Financial Affairs Secretary-General at the Ministry of Education Sahar Shakhatreh emphasized the pivotal role of education in shaping capable and competitive Jordanian citizens during the opening of the national conference titled "Modern Perceptions on Education Quality and Lessons Learned: Realities and Future Visions." Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Education, Shakhatreh highlighted the ministry's dedication to enhancing education quality, aligning with national standards and the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II and HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.
According to Jordan News Agency, Shakhatreh stressed that education quality and accountability are essential components for the ministry. She noted that reforming the education system requires a scientific approach supported by research, strategic planning, and effective accountability. The ministry's Education Quality and Accountability Unit has developed a comprehensive framework to ensure quality assurance and accountability, updating policies, activating measurement tools, and fostering partnerships with national institutions.
Shakhatreh explained that the conference serves as a platform to showcase Jordan's progress and achievements in education quality, while also addressing the challenges and future visions for enhancing the education system's effectiveness. She reiterated that improving education quality is crucial for building a prosperous nation and an advanced knowledge-based society.
Nabil AHanaqata, Director of the Education Quality and Accountability Unit, stated that education is fundamental to societal development and national advancement. The unit is focused on strengthening educators' capacities through modern tools, continuous training, and professional development, ensuring active participation in the reform process.
Sylvie Pedneault, Education Sector Lead at the Canadian Embassy in Jordan, highlighted the conference's discussion on challenges, achievements, and progress based on school visits conducted by the unit. She emphasized Canada's commitment to supporting Jordan's education sector and contributing to shared visions for success.
During the opening session, Shakhatreh honored top-performing directorates and schools for their strong performance in implementing the Policy Guidance Report. The session, attended by notable thinkers and education specialists, included a video presentation on the evaluation procedures by the Education Quality and Accountability Unit.
