Cairo: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi took center stage at the 164th regular session of the Council of the League of Arab States, emphasizing the need for a unified Arab approach to counteract Israeli policies in the region. Jordan, which hosted the meeting at the ministerial level, passed the presidency of the session to the United Arab Emirates.

According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi also led discussions at the Arab Ministerial Committee conference focused on international actions against what he termed as unlawful Israeli policies in occupied Jerusalem. Additionally, he participated in the Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of Decisions and Commitments of the Arab League.

In his address, Safadi painted a grim picture of regional stability being threatened by Israeli aggression, specifically pointing to the conflicts in Gaza, the West Bank, Syria, and Lebanon. He criticized what he described as the Israeli government's unrestrained violence and expansionist intentions, which he claimed are aimed at altering the region's geopolitical landscape.

Safadi called for an Arab collective response, stressing the importance of a comprehensive strategy that includes political, economic, legal, and defensive tools to secure regional peace and stability. He highlighted the Arab Peace Initiative as a critical framework for ensuring the rights of the Palestinian people and achieving a sovereign Palestinian state.

The minister also reaffirmed Jordan's firm stance against the displacement of Palestinians and emphasized the nation's commitment to protecting the legal and historical status of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, under the custodianship of King Abdullah II. He criticized Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank as efforts to undermine the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Safadi praised the two-state solution conference organized by Saudi Arabia and France and pointed to an upcoming summit during the UN General Assembly as a pivotal moment for recognizing the Palestinian state. He also underscored the importance of supporting Syria's rebuilding efforts and Lebanon's institutional stability.

In his discussions with Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdel Ati, Safadi stressed the urgent need for humanitarian aid in Gaza and called for an end to Israeli aggression there. Meetings with Syrian and Mauritanian officials further focused on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional developments.
