Amman: Deputy Premier and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi and Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raji discussed on the telephone on Saturday developments in Lebanon following a US-brokered framework agreement signed by Lebanon and Israel on Friday.
According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi stated that Jordan welcomes the agreement as a crucial step towards supporting Lebanon's security and stability while helping it assert sovereignty over its entire territory. He emphasized the importance of leveraging the agreement to facilitate a complete Israeli withdrawal from all occupied Lebanese areas and the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
Safadi reaffirmed Jordan's consistent support for Lebanon's security, stability, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and citizen safety. He also expressed Jordan's backing of the Lebanese government's efforts to assert its sovereignty over all of Lebanon, reactivate national institutions, and ensure that weapons are under state control. Furthermore, Safadi praised Washington's involvement in facilitating the agreement.
