Amman: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi on Tuesday said the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza calls for "immediate" international action to enforce assistance delivery through relevant UN organizations, in implementation of international law and international humanitarian law.
According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi stated that the dire situation in the Palestinian strip is a direct result of the ongoing Israeli aggression and the prevention of aid entry. During discussions with Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Safadi emphasized that Israel's blockade on essential supplies for Palestinians constitutes a war crime and is a clear violation of international law and shared human values.
Safadi called for the international community to address the situation "immediately and effectively," highlighting the urgent need for global intervention. He also reiterated the critical role of UNRWA in Gaza and other operational areas under its UN mandate, while affirming Jordan's continued support for the agency.
The Foreign Minister stressed the importance of combined efforts to halt the Israeli aggression on Gaza and underscored the need for a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire agreement. He acknowledged the ongoing efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States in working toward achieving this objective.
