Amman: The Greater Amman Municipality: The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), led by Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh, has recently issued a directive approving the inclusion of bonuses and incentives received by its employees, staff, and workers under the salary ("wage") subject to social security contributions. This decision aligns with a recent ruling by the Social Security Corporation.
According to Jordan News Agency, the directive stipulates that deductions from salaries or wages subject to social security will begin on January 1, 2025. These changes will be reflected in the February 2025 payroll. In addition, the directive outlines that retroactive deductions for the period from January 14, 2017, to December 31, 2024, will be synchronized with the Social Security Corporation. This measure will apply to both current employees and retirees, noting that GAM's workforce, including retirees since 2017, exceeds 20,000.
