Gaza strip: The number of children in the Gaza Strip who have died from malnutrition has reached 66. This increase is attributed to Israel's continued closure of border crossings, which has prevented the entry of essential items such as baby formula and supplements needed by infants and other vulnerable groups, the Government Media Office in Gaza stated on Saturday.
According to Jordan News Agency, the blockade is labeled as a war crime and a crime against humanity. It is described as a deliberate tactic by Israeli occupation forces to use starvation as a weapon against civilians, particularly children, which is a violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions.
The Government Media Office condemned the ongoing crisis affecting children in the Gaza Strip, expressing grave concern over the escalating number of young victims. The statement criticized the international community's silence, highlighting the dire situation where children face starvation, disease, and slow death. It assigned full responsibility to the Israeli occupation forces for this humanitarian catastrophe.
The statement urged the international community, including the United Nations and Arab and Islamic countries, to take immediate action. It called for pressure on Israel to open the crossings, allowing the entry of food and medical supplies to prevent further loss of life among children and patients in Gaza.
