Amman: Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan announced on Saturday a temporary change in the working hours for government institutions for the upcoming week as the Kingdom prepares for a severe drop in temperatures due to an incoming polar air mass.

According to Jordan News Agency, ministries, public agencies, state-owned companies, official universities, municipalities, joint service councils, and the Greater Amman Municipality will operate on a revised schedule from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, covering the period from February 23 to 25.

The adjustment in working hours is a proactive measure in response to anticipated freezing conditions, with forecasts indicating a significant decrease in temperatures and widespread frost during the early morning and evening. While the cold front is not expected to result in heavy rain or snowfall, the extreme cold poses potential risks to public safety and could disrupt transportation.

Authorities have issued advisories urging residents to adopt necessary precautions to cope with the harsh weather conditions.
