Amman: Minister of State for Public Sector Development and Chairman of the Institute of Public Administration (IPA), Dr. Khair Abu Sa'ilik, announced new government guidelines aimed at promoting institutional governance and oversight. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the "Standards for Assessing Internal Oversight and Auditing Units in the Public Sector" program.
According to Jordan News Agency, the program, organized by the IPA and the Audit Bureau, aligns with the government's continuous efforts to enhance the efficiency of the public sector. It aims to increase the readiness of internal oversight tools to ensure compliance, achieve integrity, and improve the quality of institutional performance. Dr. Abu Sa'ilik emphasized that internal control tools are crucial not only for detecting violations but also for preventing them and guiding administrative work towards efficiency, transparency, and compliance with legislation.
The government is currently drafting a special guideline for the governance of internal control procedures, integrating modern scientific principles that include auditing digital and information systems. Dr. Abu Sa'ilik highlighted the importance of enhancing the administrative and financial capabilities of staff in internal control units to ensure sound performance and efficient resource use.
The feasibility of administrative oversight was also discussed, with a focus on reducing the likelihood of violations or failures through compliance with laws and regulations. Audit Bureau Chief Radhi Hamadin stated that the current training program targets 500 employees from various government entities and will continue for 8 weeks. The program, which began with 75 employees from 20 official entities, covers several themes, primarily providing technical support to employees of internal control and audit units to improve their performance.
