Irbid: Secretary-General of the Health Ministry for Primary Health Care and Epidemics Raed Al-Shboul has confirmed that the ministry is actively monitoring incidents of food poisoning among students at Ibder and Hatem Elementary Schools in the Bani Kinanah District, Irbid governorate. The students' health conditions are reported to be stable.
According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Shboul stated during a tour of Yarmouk Governmental Hospital that 42 cases, involving children aged 6 to 14, have sought medical attention at the hospital and local health centers since the previous evening. Out of these, three cases continue to receive monitoring and follow-up care, while eight students were admitted to the hospital. The rest of the affected students were discharged after receiving treatment and undergoing safety checks.
Al-Shboul noted that the restaurant supplying food to the schools did not have the necessary health certifications for its employees, emphasizing the urgent need for implementing comprehensive food and water safety regulations. He further mentioned that laboratory samples were collected from the patients at the hospital and health facilities to determine the cause of the poisoning.
