The Ministry of Health’s Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training Center has received accreditation from the American Heart Association (AHA), allowing ministry staff to receive training on advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques.
During a ceremony attended by Spanish Ambassador Miguel de Lucas and Acting Deputy Mission Director at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Emily Krunic, Health Minister Firas Hawari said AHA’s accreditation of the CPR center is a major step in the ministry’s commitment to improving the skills of healthcare practitioners in Jordan.
He added that the establishment of the CPR center had significantly improved training by providing more than 8,000 health professionals with access to 550 basic and advanced life support courses.
The minister thanked the USAID and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) for their support to the ministry.
The Spanish and US officials, along with Hawari, took a firsthand look at the center’s renovation process carried out by the USAID and AECID.
Krunic, for her part, stated that increasing the capacity of Jordanian health workers is critical to advancing health services and protecting lives throughout the kingdom.
Ambassador Lucas affirmed that Spain is a “close and committed partner to Jordan” and that it firmly believes that working with the Jordanian government is the best way to move forward in achieving sustainable development goals.
The AHA has accredited the CPR Center to provide advanced cardiovascular life support courses, which are funded by the USAID-funded Local Health Systems Sustainability Project. The center provides basic and advanced life support courses, which are programs designed to save lives in medical emergencies.
The center, which was founded in 2021 with funding from USAID, has seven AHA-approved trainers and its main objective is to train the 25,000 employees who work in ministry hospitals.
