Himaya Platform Addresses 214 Minimum Wage Complaints in Early 2025

Amman: The Himaya platform, which focuses on labor protection, received a total of 214 complaints related to minimum wage violations by private sector establishments within the first five months of 2025.

According to Jordan News Agency, Ministry of Labor Spokesperson Mohammad Zyoud stated that 98% of these complaints were resolved. Zyoud emphasized the ministry's commitment to ensuring that establishments comply with minimum wage regulations through inspection tours and complaints submitted to the Himaya platform by workers in the private sector.

Zyoud explained that the platform allows for confidentiality and categorizes complaints as non-compliance with minimum wage payments, rather than outright wage non-payment. He highlighted that Article 46 of the Jordan Labor Law mandates that employers must pay wages and overtime allowances within seven days from the due date.

He also mentioned that the Tripartite Committee for Labor Affairs' decision to increase the minimum wage to JD290 per month took effect at the beginning of 2025. Zyoud further noted that Article 53 of the Jordan Labor Law imposes penalties on violating entities, ranging from JD500 to JD1,000 per case, with the penalty amount doubling in the case of repeat offenses.
