Amman: The Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDC) announced on Tuesday that it will begin technical, engineering, and administrative preparations to implement the Cabinet's decision to provide residential land at reduced prices through state-owned properties.
According to Jordan News Agency, the HUDC confirmed its readiness to manage and execute the initiative, which involves transferring land ownership to the institution before distributing them to citizens. The initiative aims to develop new urban areas, enhance services, improve infrastructure, and offer affordable housing solutions to a broader segment of the population. It also aligns with Jordan's economic modernization vision by improving citizens' quality of life.
The project will be implemented in phases, starting with the first phase in Zarqa's Batrawi district, Karak's Muhayeh and Qatraneh areas, and Ma'an's Al-Muhammadiyah area. Land allocation and sales will commence once essential infrastructure and services are in place. The first phase is expected to be completed by the end of this year, with future expansion planned across other regions.
The initiative includes flexible financing options, such as a 50% reduction in administrative land value for the first dunum, direct interest-free installment plans over 10 years without a down payment, and immediate approval for essential utilities upon payment of the first installment. Land ownership will be transferred once payments are completed.
Officials expect the project to boost economic activity, generate new job opportunities, and stimulate the construction, infrastructure, and related service sectors.
