Industrial Producer Price Index Sees 0.3% Decline in 9 Months.

Amman: The industrial producer price index witnessed a marginal decline of 0.3 percent from January through September, decreasing to 107.40 points from 107.72 points during the same period last year. According to Jordan News Agency, this information was detailed in the Department of Statistics' monthly report released Thursday. This overall decline was primarily influenced by a 0.43 percent decrease in manufacturing industry prices and a significant 2.79 percent drop in extractive industry prices, although electricity prices experienced a 4.06 percent increase. Evaluating the month of September alone, the index marked a 0.43 percent year-over-year decrease, standing at 107.5 points compared to 107.96 points in September 2023. The decline was mainly due to a 1.03 percent reduction in manufacturing prices. However, it was partially counterbalanced by a 7.94 percent rise in extractive industry prices and a 1.39 percent increase in electricity prices. On a month-to-month basis, the index saw a slight rise of 0 .12 percent in September 2024, reaching 107.5 points from 107.37 points in August 2024. This modest uptick was attributed to an 11.02 percent surge in extractive industry prices, despite a 0.48 percent drop in manufacturing prices and a minor 0.17 percent decrease in electricity prices.
