Industrial Producer Prices See a 0.48 Percent Decline in Early 2024.

Amman: The general index of industrial producers’ prices experienced a decline of 0.48 percent during the first ten months of 2024, reaching 107.27 points compared to 107.79 points for the same period in 2023.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Department of Statistics’ monthly report issued Thursday highlighted these changes in the industrial pricing landscape.

The report attributed the overall decrease to a 0.61 percent drop in the prices of manufacturing industries and a 2.59 percent decline in the prices of extractive industries. In contrast, electricity prices saw an increase of 3.39 percent, which did not offset the overall downward trend.

In October 2024, the general index showed a year-on-year decline of 2.11 percent, registering 106.12 points as opposed to 108.42 points in October 2023. The decrease was driven by a 2.18 percent reduction in manufacturing prices, a 0.77 percent fall in extractive industry prices, and a 2.32 percent decrease in electricity prices.

On a month-on-month basis, the
industrial producer price index for October 2024 dropped by 1.28 percent, reaching 106.12 points from 107.50 points in September 2024. The monthly decline was primarily due to a 1.04 percent reduction in manufacturing industry prices and a substantial 6.72 percent decrease in extractive industry prices, despite a slight 0.14 percent increase in electricity prices during the same period.
