Amman: Initial Hajj registration for Jordanians and residents of the Gaza Strip residing in the Kingdom is set to commence next Sunday, continuing through Sunday, September 27, as announced by Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Khalayleh.
According to Jordan News Agency, Khalayleh revealed in a statement on Wednesday that the registration process will be conducted online via the Hajj registration platform. He urged eligible individuals to complete their registration within the designated period. The initial registration requires a refundable payment of JD200 for the primary applicant, with the exemption for accompanying persons. Payment can be made using the "eFAWATEERcom" service or through branches of the Jordan Islamic Bank or Safwa Islamic Bank.
Eligibility criteria for this Hajj season specify that the primary applicant must have been born on or before December 31, 1980, and must not have performed pilgrimage previously. Selected groups will need to submit a medical certificate from the Ministry of Health, confirming they are free from specified diseases, as per the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's guidelines. Disqualifying conditions include major organ failure, neurological and psychiatric diseases, dementia in old age, pregnancy in the final two months, active cancer, and infectious diseases impacting public health.
For individuals saving with the Hajj Fund, Khalayleh mentioned that those with a balance of JD3,000 as of January 1, 2021, can register through the Hajj Fund's website without any registration fees. The minister stressed the importance of adhering to the conditions and completing registration within the specified timeframe.
