Initiative Targets 334,000 Women With Expanded Breast Cancer Screening Services

Amman: A breast cancer screening initiative launched by the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) aims to reach around 334,000 women in Jordan's southern governorates, providing mammography services to nearly 700 women through a mobile screening unit.

According to Jordan News Agency, the initiative was launched under a cooperation agreement signed Sunday between the two organizations, under which the JPMC will provide support, including a mammography machine to be installed in the King Hussein Cancer Center's mobile screening unit operating in Ma'an, Tafileh, Karak and Aqaba.

The project seeks to expand access to early breast cancer detection services in the southern governorates by bringing specialized screening services closer to communities and supporting timely diagnosis and treatment. It will also include awareness campaigns and community outreach programs to promote the importance of early detection and encourage women to benefit from available screening services.

In addition, the initiative will support capacity building for local health care and community workers and provide data that can contribute to health planning and policy development.

Her Royal Highness Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the KHCF and King Hussein Cancer Center, expressed appreciation for the JPMC's continued support, saying the company's contribution will help expand early detection services for women in the south through the mobile screening unit.

The JPMC Chairperson Mohammad Thneibat said the company takes pride in its partnership with the KHCF and its continued support for the foundation's humanitarian role in providing comprehensive cancer care across Jordan. He added that the initiative reflects the company's national and social responsibility and commitment to strengthening collective efforts to support cancer patients and enhance access to specialized health services.

Thneibat described the King Hussein Cancer Center as a national and humanitarian institution that provides advanced cancer care in line with the highest standards, praising the dedication of its medical and administrative teams.
