The Federal Integrity Commission announced the issuance of a summons order against a former MP in the Parliament, on the grounds that he caused damage to state funds.

The Commission’s Investigation Department stated that the judge of the Baquba Investigation Court, which specializes in integrity issues, decided to bring in a female MP in the House of Representatives for the previous session, regarding the issue of her receiving a car from the Ministry of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works, at her request and not returning her to the Muqdadiya Municipality Directorate after the end of her membership in the House of Representatives.

She added that the judge of the competent court issued the summons order, based on the provisions of Article (341) of the amended Penal Code No. (111 of 1969).

Article (341) provides for the imposition of a penalty of imprisonment on every public official or person entrusted with a public service who, through his grave fault, causes serious damage to the funds or interests of the entity with which he works or is connected by virtue of his position, or to the funds or interests of the persons entrusted to him – if this results from gross negligence in performing his job – or for abuse of power or for gross breach of his job duties./End
