Iraq Welcomes US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding

Baghdad: Iraq's Foreign Ministry welcomed on Monday a memorandum of understanding reached between Iran and the United States, affirming its support for diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving crises and conflicts through dialogue.

According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry stated that Iraq fully supports endeavors to promote dialogue and prioritize diplomatic solutions. It added that this step would contribute to strengthening security and stability in the region and open new avenues for understanding and cooperation to serve the interests of its peoples.

Iraq's principled and firm stance has always been based on rejecting war and adopting dialogue and peaceful means as the sole path to settle disputes, the ministry said, noting that it had closely followed the negotiations and efforts that led to the agreement.
