Irbid: The value of certificates of origin issued by the Irbid Chamber of Industry (ICC) in June was $100.5 million, a decrease from $108.4 million in the same month last year, according to the Chamber's report released Tuesday.
According to Jordan News Agency, the report revealed that 1,147 certificates of origin were issued last June, a decline from the 1,331 certificates issued in the corresponding period last year. The textile and leather sector maintained its position as the leader among export sectors, with an export value of $100.419 million. This was followed by the food and agricultural supplies sector at $2.312 million, the medical sector at $2.069 million, and the chemical and cosmetics sector at $1.546 million.
The report also highlighted that other exports were concentrated in the plastics and rubber, construction, packaging and paper, and engineering and electrical industries. ICC Chairman Hani Abu Hassan emphasized that Al-Hassan Industrial Estate was responsible for approximately 95 percent of Irbid's total exports, while Cyber City contributed over 4 percent.
Abu Hassan explained that the 7.3 percent decrease in the value of certificates of origin was due to reduced exports from the leather and textile sector and a decrease in exports under Arab, European, and American trade agreements.
