Amman: Government Communication Minister Mohammad Momani declared Jordan's firm stance against Israel's actions in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly the West Bank, asserting that these actions undermine efforts towards a two-state solution.
According to Jordan News Agency, Momani emphasized in an interview with Sky News Arabia that Israel's activities in the West Bank represent a blatant violation of international law and United Nations resolutions. He stated, "Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories," underscoring the legal status of the West Bank as occupied land under international recognition, with Israel as the occupying force.
Momani further elaborated that the path to enduring peace and stability in the region is contingent upon ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem serving as its capital. This vision, he noted, aligns with international legal frameworks and legitimacy.
