Nablus:The Israeli army arrested five Palestinians following raids on their homes in Nablus and the Qalandiya refugee camp, north of East Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, the arrests took place on Sunday, with Israeli forces raiding the town of Burin, south of Nablus, and detaining four young men after searching their homes. Additionally, a young man from the Qalandiya refugee camp was also arrested.
The Israeli military frequently conducts arrest raids across the West Bank, targeting men, children, and women. These operations often result in assaults on family members during home invasions, as well as destruction and vandalism of property. Approximately 9,350 Palestinian prisoners are currently held in Israeli jails, including 350 children and 90 women, Palestinian figures indicate.
Human rights organizations report that prisoners face torture, starvation, and medical neglect, which have resulted in numerous deaths. Since the onset of Israel's conflict with Gaza in October 2023, the Israeli army has increased its attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, amid a surge in violence. These attacks have resulted in over 1,220 Palestinian deaths, around 13,350 injuries, and more than 26,000 arrests, according to Palestinian estimates.
