Beirut: An Israeli army patrol detonated a house during a raid in southern Lebanon, marking a significant breach of last year's ceasefire agreement, local media reported on Wednesday. Lebanon's state news agency NNA disclosed that Israeli forces advanced 1,600 meters into Lebanese territory after midnight, targeting a house in the town of Houla within the Marjayoun district of Nabatieh.
According to Anadolu Agency, the raid was not the only aggressive act by the Israeli military. An Israeli drone reportedly dropped a bomb on a digger in Aita al-Shaab, a town located in the Bint Jbeil district. These actions have raised concerns about the fragile peace between the two nations.
As of now, there has been no official comment from the Israeli army regarding these incidents. The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon was established in November 2024, following a prolonged period of cross-border hostilities linked to the war in Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of over 4,000 individuals and injuries to 17,000 others.
The ceasefire agreement stipulated that Israeli forces were to withdraw from southern Lebanon by January. However, they have only partially complied, retaining a military presence at five border outposts. These recent developments have further strained the already tense relations between Israel and Lebanon.
