Ramallah:Occupied West Bank The Israeli army wounded Issam Rimawi, a Palestinian photojournalist working for Anadolu, with a rubber bullet during an incident in the occupied West Bank.
According to Anadolu Agency, the altercation occurred after farmers from the village of Deir Nizam, near Ramallah, sought assistance from activists to harvest their olives. The farmers had faced difficulties accessing their land due to attacks by Israeli occupiers.
The group of farmers, accompanied by a large number of activists, proceeded to their fields to gather olives. However, they were confronted by Israeli occupiers, leading to a clash.
Israeli soldiers subsequently arrived at the scene, aligning themselves with the occupiers. They deployed tear gas and fired rubber bullets at the Palestinians and activists present.
Rimawi, who was there to cover the olive harvest, was hit in the right calf by a rubber bullet fired by the soldiers. After being taken to a local hospital, Rimawi described the sequence of events, noting that a scuffle had erupted between the occupiers and Palestinians prior to the arrival of Israeli forces, who then targeted the Palestinians, including journalists clearly identified by press vests and helmets.
Since October 2023, there has been an escalation in attacks by Israeli forces and occupiers against Palestinians and their property throughout the occupied West Bank. Palestinian sources report that 1,210 people have been killed, 13,350 injured, and 26,000 arrested during this period.
