Amman: Minister of Water and Irrigation Raed Abu Saud and Chairman and CEO of the Egyptian Arab Contractors Company Ahmed El Assar signed a JD18.45 million agreement for wastewater projects in southwest Amman.

According to Jordan News Agency, the projects, part of the first and second packages, will be funded by the German KfW Development Bank. Abu Saud stated that these packages will include the construction of a wastewater network to serve parts of Marj Al-Hamam and Na'ur districts of southwest Amman. The project involves the construction of a network 300 to 600 mm in diameter and 32 kilometers long, along with an additional 5 kilometers of household connections and the rehabilitation of 2 kilometers of the Wadi Al-Seer pipeline.

The project aims to improve wastewater services in southwest Amman and enhance the environmental situation in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. The areas covered by the first and second phases include most of the Na'ur basin. The Ministry is keen on extending sanitation services to most areas of the Kingdom.

Abu Saud expressed gratitude towards international partners, particularly the KfW Development Bank, for their contributions, as well as the Arab Contractors Company for implementing high-quality service projects in Jordan.
