JOHUD Organizes Sports Event to Advocate for Gender Equality.

Amman: The Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) recently organized a sports event at the 6 Yard football fields, marking a pivotal part of their 16-day campaign against gender-based violence. The initiative aimed to leverage the power of sports to drive empowerment and foster societal change. According to Jordan News Agency, the event was conducted under the World Coaches Program, which is financed by the Dutch Embassy in Amman. The program featured notable participation from former players of the Netherlands women's national football team, including Anouk Hoogendijk and Claudia van den Heiligenberg. They were joined by 20 Jordanian coaches and 60 children, creating a diverse and engaging environment. The event's schedule included a variety of activities such as experience-sharing sessions between the Jordanian and Dutch participants, discussions centered on achieving excellence in football, and informative lectures on JOHUD's ongoing initiatives to combat gender-based violence. These acti vities were designed to inspire and educate participants on the pivotal role sports can play in addressing societal issues. A highlight of the event was the football tournament held on the second day, which saw attendance from the Deputy Ambassador of the Netherlands in Amman, Pier de Vries. Vries actively engaged with participants, underscoring the significance of the project in nurturing young talent and developing qualified coaches in Jordan. He praised the collaborative efforts of JOHUD, the Dutch Embassy, and the Royal Dutch Football Association, emphasizing their collective contribution to promoting professional coaching skills and nurturing young players in the region.
