Amman: Secretary General of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Mamoun Al-Debi'e, held a meeting with Rector of Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan State University, Elbrus Isayev, in the presence of Azerbaijani Ambassador to Jordan, Eldar Salimov. The discussion focused on enhancing academic collaboration between Jordan and Azerbaijan, with an emphasis on the fields of higher education, student and faculty exchanges, and scientific research.
According to Jordan News Agency, Dr. Al-Debi'e highlighted the significance of the existing academic and cultural ties between the two countries. He expressed the importance of formalizing these relations through a joint agreement aimed at fostering cooperation in various educational domains. Dr. Al-Debi'e also shared insights into recent advancements in Jordan's higher education sector, particularly in technical and vocational education, the integration of artificial intelligence on campuses, and the growing influx of international students.
Dr. Al-Debi'e emphasized the quality of Jordanian university graduates as an attractive factor for international students. He also mentioned the streamlined process for international student admissions through Jordan's unified e-system, which aims to optimize time, effort, and cost. Additionally, he discussed decisions made by the boards of trustees of Jordan's public universities to offer non-Arabic-speaking Muslim students studying Islamic Sharia and Arabic language specializations the same tuition rates as Jordanian students.
Furthermore, Dr. Al-Debi'e introduced the "Excellence - You Are Jordan's Ambassadors" platform, recently launched by the Ministry to facilitate connections with international students and graduates of Jordanian universities.
Rector Isayev and Ambassador Salimov acknowledged the strong bilateral ties and expressed a mutual interest in strengthening academic and research collaboration. This includes the potential for hosting Jordanian professors at Azerbaijani universities. Both officials commended Jordan's reputation in teaching classical Arabic and moderate Islamic law.
