Amman: Minister of Interior Mazen Faraya and Director of Public Security Directorate (PSD), Maj. Gen. Dr. Obeidallah Maaytah, recently visited the addiction treatment center of the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) to assess the services offered to individuals seeking to overcome drug addiction.
According to Jordan News Agency, the officials were informed about the medical, therapeutic, and social services provided at the center. Minister Faraya emphasized the importance of adhering to Royal directives aimed at enhancing national efforts to combat drugs and assist addicts in their recovery journey. He praised the PSD's role in establishing a specialized center for addiction treatment that offers addict-centered therapeutic and psychological services, along with aftercare programs at no cost to the beneficiaries.
Faraya highlighted the center's systems and the confidentiality of its treatment procedures, which encourage individuals and families to seek treatment voluntarily without fear of legal repercussions. This approach aims to improve recovery and reintegration outcomes for addicts.
Maj. Gen. Maaytah reiterated the PSD's commitment to its field, awareness, and treatment initiatives as part of the national drug combat strategy. He stated that the PSD collaborates with various institutions to support the center's operations, ensuring that services align with international standards. Maaytah also announced plans to establish two new addiction treatment centers in the northern and southern regions, and to launch special treatment facilities within Jordan's correctional and rehabilitation centers.
During the visit, the AND Director briefed the minister on the center's operating procedures and rehabilitation programs. The minister noted that the center has already provided services to hundreds of cases, positively impacting many families' lives.
