Amman:The head of the Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee, MP Haitham Ziyadeen, met with a British delegation from the Conservative Middle East Council, led by MP Andrew Bowie, to discuss strengthening joint parliamentary relations and the exchange of expertise between Jordan and the United Kingdom.
According to Jordan News Agency, the discussions also covered regional and international issues of mutual interest. Ziyadeen emphasized the importance of boosting tourism exchange, highlighting Jordan's significant religious, historical, and tourist sites, such as the Baptism Site, Petra, and Jerash. He called for encouraging British tourists to visit Jordan to explore its rich history and cultural heritage.
Ziyadeen noted Jordan's model of coexistence between Muslims and Christians, stating that the values of love, peace, and coexistence are deeply embedded in Jordanian society. The Lower House of Representatives expressed a desire for further cooperation and reciprocal visits with the British Parliament, hoping to learn from British parliamentary expertise, especially in party politics.
He also mentioned that Jordan actively works toward peace through understanding among peoples and fostering dialogue and coexistence. Under the leadership of King Abdullah II, Jordan pursues a consistent approach to supporting peace and stability, with a focus on preventing regional crises and enhancing peace and cooperation opportunities.
The British delegation expressed appreciation for Jordan's role in supporting peace and stability and commended King Abdullah II's insightful vision in addressing challenges. They praised His Majesty's efforts in safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites and acknowledged Jordan's dedication to preserving these significant sites.
Bowie highlighted the value of such visits in strengthening parliamentary diplomacy, exchanging expertise, and enhancing Jordanian-British relations.
