The meeting, which took place on Sunday, was attended by Issa Murad, Chair of the Jordan-China Parliamentary Friendship Committee and Chair of the Senate's Labor and Social Development Committee. Discussions centered on enhancing ties in economic, political, and parliamentary domains, alongside regional developments.
According to Jordan News Agency, Fayez commended the robust bilateral relations between Jordan and China, characterizing them as a strategic partnership rooted in mutual respect and shared interests. He highlighted the ongoing consultation and coordination on issues of mutual concern and reaffirmed Jordan's commitment to strengthening cooperation with China. Fayez also noted the importance of His Majesty King Abdullah II's visits to China, which aim to expand joint collaboration.
Fayez emphasized the Senate's dedication to enhancing parliamentary relations and exploring new avenues for cooperation, including attracting more Chinese investments to Jordan. He pointed out the potential for significant Chinese investments in sectors such as telecommunications, digital economy, artificial intelligence, water projects, mining, renewable energy, tourism, and public transport. Additionally, he stressed Jordan's strategic location and its various trade agreements, which provide opportunities for Chinese companies to establish operations in Jordan and access broader markets, thus positioning Jordan as a gateway for Chinese firms involved in the reconstruction of Syria and Gaza.
Fayez also called for practical steps by the international community to ensure Israel's adherence to the Gaza ceasefire agreement, viewing this as essential for achieving regional peace.
Guo Wei, on his part, expressed China's appreciation for King Abdullah II's efforts to foster peace and resolve regional conflicts through political dialogue.
