Cairo: Jordan and Egypt have signed a renewed agreement to continue the exchange of electrical power. This agreement was finalized during a ceremony held in Cairo, which was attended by Jordan's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh, Egypt's Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat, and Jordan's Deputy Ambassador to Cairo Riyad Najada.
According to Jordan News Agency, the agreement was signed by Sufian Bataineh, Director General of Jordan's National Electric Power Company (NEPCO), and Mona Rizq, Chair of the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company. The renewed contract aims to ensure the continuity of electricity exchange over the coming year, which is expected to support grid stability and generate economic returns for both nations.
The broader objectives of the agreement align with Jordan's efforts to advance its Economic Modernization Vision. It seeks to strengthen energy security and reliability, improve resource efficiency, and bolster regional integration within the energy sector. These initiatives are designed to support broader economic development goals for both Jordan and Egypt.
