Amman: MP Wasfi Haddad, Chairman of the Parliamentary Tourism and Antiquities Committee, emphasized the significance of strengthening Jordanian-Georgian cooperation, particularly in tourism and parliamentary relations. His remarks were made during a committee meeting held at the Lower House of Parliament with the Georgian Ambassador, Archil Dzuliashvili, and Chairman of the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat, in attendance.
According to Jordan News Agency, Haddad highlighted Jordan's economic and commercial environment as offering substantial opportunities for investment. He noted that Jordan and Georgia share common positions on regional and international political issues, which serves as a foundation for expanding joint cooperation.
Committee members, including MPs Yousef Rawadieh, Iyad Jabreen, Hassan Riyati, Hamoud Zawahra, Feryal Bani Salman, and Rania Khleifat, also emphasized the importance of deepening bilateral ties, particularly in the tourism sector, citing its role in promoting economic development and fostering cultural exchange.
Meanwhile, Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat detailed the JTB's efforts to promote Jordan's tourist sites and its strategies to access non-traditional markets. He mentioned Aqaba as a promising tourist gateway and noted Jordan's 35 Christian religious sites as having potential for religious tourism.
Georgian Ambassador Archil Dzuliashvili praised the strength of Jordanian-Georgian relations and stressed the importance of cooperation amid regional challenges. He highlighted that approximately 2,000 Jordanian students are currently studying in Georgian universities and advocated for increased mutual academic exchange.
The ambassador also mentioned the existing weekly direct flights between the two countries and encouraged efforts to increase tourist flow from Jordan to Georgia.
